Where I Knit

Kat over at Kat Knits is having a contest. I saw the link at Karen's site and thought I'd join in. You have to list 5 places where you knit, other than at home or a LYS. I guess the most unusual will win, however mine aren't unusual but I joined in anyway.

1. My friend Kristina's house. I go there after church often and sit and knit (or crochet).
2. In the university cafeteria.
3. Before and during break time of the 3 hour class I had this semester (got lots of questions and comments on my knitting from the youngsters - I'm 37 and think, other than the prof, I was probably the second oldest student in the class).
4. At work (summer and Christmas time) during lunch and breaks, if the work is late, sometimes before if I get in early enough.
5. In the car travelling to work. I'm a little skitting driving in the car after I had a bad accident a couple of years ago so I like to knit or crochet during driving time so that I have something to focus on.

Anyway, other than home, so far these have been the places I've knit so far.

Shelley, I hope you're a passenger and not the driver when you are knitting in the car. : )

Shelly, you posted a question over on my blog about where the yeast from the starter comes from. I couldn't find a way to email you, so I hope you don't mind me doing it this way. The yeast just comes from the air. It is "wild" Some starters call for using store bought yeast, but in that case, you are just culturing the yeast that comes from the store, and it doesn't taste the same. Does that make sense.

You know, I have been reading your other blog, Confirm the Work of Our Hands, and didn't even know you had this one! I am such a dork.

what a fun little contest! i'm curious as to all the odd places people have used to knit. my list would probably be very boring... mostly coffeeshops, sometimes in class (during breaks), sometimes in the car. our church is having an all-church camp/retreat next month, and i'll bring my knitting there. but other than that... that's it for me. =P

I have to agree with the first poster that I hope you're using knitting to calm your nerves in the car when you're the passenger, not the driver! The latter hardly seems like a way to avoid future accidents. :)

Shelly and Rachel...yes, rest assured that it is as a passenger that I knit. I'm not talented enough to be able to drive and knit, nor do I even think I want to practice that...too risky if you ask me!

Ruth, my places are pretty boring too - just regular ol' places.

Jan, thanks for the info about wild yeast. I had no idea it just came from the air. Also, I've had Confirm the Work of Our Hands longer than I have this one. I figured they wouldn't want to read about my knitting on there so I was inspired by Ruth of Ruth's Knits to start a blog for my knitting.

Hi Shelly,

Can you post the link to Kat's contest. I doubt that I could come up with anything unusual, but it would be fun to try. Thanks!

Syd (I tried going to your blog but it didn't work so I'll post the reply here), if you click on Kat's name it will take you to her blog. I guess it doesn't look like it is linked, but it is. I will go in and change it so that it shows that way.

lol i think you made me more anxious! but that's ok. the pattern is super easy if you can read the graphs/charts what ever you call them.
good luck.
i love all the places you knit!

I knit in the car, too- for the exact same reason. I've been skittish since a bad car accident and knitting distracts me when I'm the passenger. :)
