Random January Post

Last October I won the prize picked by Kimberley for a scissor fob, over at
Knittin' Mittens. She drew the name in November but because she was involved in a move of her household, plus followed by Christmas, she was unable to get it in the mail until this month. That's quite fine by me, as I understand her situation.

Sorry the picture isn't all that good, but isn't it cute! The beads are blue, and there is a mitten charm with a snowflake. She decided that that was an appropriate charm (I totally agree), because she is doing these up for the KAL (she's been kind enough to do one up each month it runs, from last September until it ends in March). Isn't she super sweet?! Go visit her
blog and say hello.

Also, since today is my birthday (I'm 38) I decided to order myself a few things. I went to Wal-mart and a few other places looking for size 2.25 mm and 2.50 mm needles (I think those equal out to US 0 and US 1), but the smallest they had was 2.75, which I already own. So, the only way that I can obtain these sizes, was to order them online. I went to Knit Picks and ordered them as well as a book on different pattern stitches. I'll post pics when I get them, which should be some time next week.

I also wanted to try Noro Kueryon (sp) yarn that I've been hearing great things about, so I went to another place online (one that another blog knitter had recommended), and ordered 2 balls/skeins. That is supposed to take longer to ship as it is all the way out in British Columbia, and I'm on the east coast...besides I think I checked off surface mail and that takes longer (and is cheaper) to ship. I'll post a pic of it as well when I get it so you can see the colours.

I'll leave you for now with a recent picture of Tinker Bell relaxing on a box - which she seems to love doing for some odd reason.

Happy Birthday!
Thanks for visiting my blog. I just finished my sweater and when my DH gets home, he will put help me get them onto my blog.
Happy shopping for your birthday! I am now going to get back to another sweater I had started, and this year I am going to try to never have more than two items on the needles at one time. I liked concentrating on one item, but when I have a more complicated knit, I like to have a simple knit if there are going to be distractions, such as on Knit Night!

Happy Birthday, sweet friend! **hugs**

Good for you, getting yourself treats on your birthday. And even better when those treats includ yarn.

Yeah, you may as well be 100 for being 4 years older than me. Hahhh.

You made me laugh with your comment. You're the best!

Happy birthday! My birthday is in a little over a month, and I've got a small (well, small-ish) yarn list on the go! It's nice to treat ourselves on our birthday, yes?

Have a good one!

Oh no, I'm terribly late to wishing you a happy birthday! I'm very glad to hear that you treated yourself a bit. I hope you had a great day overall.

I'll be interested to hear what you think of the Noro. I have mixed feelings about it. I never like it much when I hold it in the store, but I'm told it softens up a huge amount with washing, and people always make such beautiful things with it. I hope you love all your gifts to yourself! :)
