Another Package!

Well now, look what was waiting for me when I got home from my afternoon class again today!
It's my package from Knit Picks containing the other gifts I got myself for my birthday! I ordered a set of 2.0 mm and 2.50 mm dpns and the book "Knitting Stitches" by Mary Webb. It has over 300 contemporary and traditional stitch patterns, and I've only had time to glance through it so far, but it looks great! I've already marked one of the stitch patterns that I want to try. I think the pattern would look great in a scarf, so that is probably what I'll use the pattern on.

Most of the stitch patterns aren't named, except to indicate if they are easy, medium, or difficult, and the number it is. For example, it might say "medium stitch 27". The book shows pictures of the patterns, gives the instructions written out in some cases, but mostly are charted. It's a way cool little book!

Have you seen the latest MagKnits (the link is in my sidebar)? There is a pair of socks called Falling in Love Socks by Anniken Allis, and I have printed off the pattern and am going to give them a try. These are toe up socks, and I have yet to try this method (this gives me another reason, other than I like the look of the socks, to try the pattern). But first, I need to finish the socks I've been working on in the Oplal yarn, the children's socks (I'm on the second one), and the mittens for my nephew (on the second one). I've said it before, and I'll say it again....so many patterns, so little time!

Wow, your mailman's been good to you - lucky you! Like you, I haven't tried knitting toe up socks yet, so this pattern in the new MagKnits is certainly something very beautiful and interesting to try out! Have fun knitting!

Lucky you, but I was lucky and got a nice papckage from Karen today, she is sharing some Lorna's with me. Let me know how you like those knit picks needles.

I've done toe up on two circular needles. It's how I learned to knit socks. Then I went to cuff down on dpns and I found them both very similar in the sense that I will knit socks either way. Happy with both of them! Is that rare? The advantage of toe up tho is that you can try them on as you go (as long as you use 2 circs) BTW, you must love your mailman ... bringing goodies for you. Hehe, me too!

Oh I like that sock pattern too, it's on the list. Knit Picks, they don't deliver to the UK :(. There is a lovely pattern in Knitty, the Surprise bits are up, and it's Knit Picks yarn.
Sorry can't help with the Noro I've not used it.
Scrummy parcels.

What a nice treat! I'm amazed you could resist all that nice yarn.. :0) You're so right - there's just never enough time to knit!

I'm impressed with your restraint! I always go insane around my birthday getting little things for myself.

Like you, I also really like the look of the Falling in Love socks. I've never tried toe-up, but I could use them as the excuse to try!

Oh that package looks luscious! I'd love to get a copy of your book - perhaps I'll try to get my library to order it through inter-library loan.

I saw that sock pattern, too, and I think it is a neat pattern. I hope it comes out nicely for you!

I printed off that pattern today, too. I like that she has both the short row heel and the regular heel choices. I have yet to conquer short row heels. I'd really like to get some solid or mostly solid yarn really soon and made a pair.
